Artwork Description

I was drawn to the interplay of light in this scene, set on a family-owned property nestled in the Italian Alps, which has been passed down through generations and includes a sprawling vineyard. The striking contrast of the purple tree against the warm, yellow-lit background immediately captivates, with these complementary colors serving as the focal point of the composition. My intention is to guide the viewer’s eye through the scene, using the strong diagonal lines of the path, garden edge, and fence to create a sense of movement and intrigue, leaving the viewer to ponder what lies beyond this serene moment.

Painted in archival oils with palette knife to create bold colours, texture and movement.

Professionally framed in an natural oak shadow box frame.

Artist Bio

Originally‚ I picked up the palette knife to loosen my painting technique. With a brush in hand‚ I was often tempted to agonise over the detail. I actually love the loss of control that the knife provides and the application of oil paint with its buttery texture.
