Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
My granddaughter, Jasmin, visited me on her 16th birthday. I was so taken by her beauty and her innocence, holding her mobile phone as a life line, not like when I was her age. I asked her if she would mind if i could paint her portrait just how she was looking at me here. I said, 'when you are my age, Jasmin, you will realise why I painted you in this landscape in front of my home. It is so important for you to realise my awareness of this changing environment as I have been living here in Wilmot, 15 years . My art work is about the changing landscape in my life time, telling the story of change, global warming and the loss of our natural landscape in my life time. My feeling for the land has been with me all my life and I am aware of the destruction of our Earth and all it's living creatures. Jasmin is apart of this growing and extreme environment and I wanted to capture her innocence.
I made a frame for the canvas out of wood. I primed the canvas and painted Jasmin with oil paint. The canvas was acquired from my material collection and has a texture on it. The back is covered with raw cotton. I will sign the painting when it is sold.
