ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Following in French stencil king Blek Le Rat, and more recently UK’s Banksy, may I present for sale “Overjoyed Chimp”. With my twist on the ape theme, OC is an actual street art stencil (image 3 above) that has been posted around Melbourne’’s dental surgeries, back lanes and anywhere needing an “upper” in the art sense. I have kept this art piece true to graffiti art form for authenticity.
OC is painted in a mixed bag of acrylic and spray can on a light wooden panel. I chose this support to highlight the street theme and surface texture of a masonry wall.
Struggling with my own “differences”; as a neuro divergent artist I know, as the wording says, smile size matters. Often among my minds chatter I find I have to remind myself to find joy in the now and to smile. Reminding self to smile because I love being a creator of great things.
This painting is made using:

4. Archival UV protected gloss varnish
