Books ( reading ) and music is not the only, but certainly the strongest inspiration for his art. This painting has been inspired and in the way dedicated to Franz Kafka. Specially the collection of his Diaries, written between 1910 and 1923. Collection of his reflections on life, account of his philosophical ideas and interpretations of dreams. Readers, books, scrolls, carved tablets, scriptures, letters, mystery of reading all the same. Typically an individual activity, done silently and usually in solitude. It is necessary to understand the spoken language in which the text is written. In this painting artist is showing the group reading hidden text and possibly the foreign language text, or even text using foreign script. Painting portraits and human bodies enables the artist to get deeper into minds of human nature and to explore beauty and complexity of human body and of life itself. Artist's style could be described as a contemporary impressionism. He works fast but with clear concept before starting a new painting. His preferred mediums are watercolour on paper and oil or acrylic on canvas. Linen is preferred surface, stronger and more durable than cotton canvas and often used by old masters. Tony works "alla prima", directly with brush, without pencil sketch beforehand and with very little amount of overpainting and correcting. This painting was started about midnight during very warm month of August in my European studio. It was finished as daylight was breaking. The Symphony No. 5 by Shostakovich was playing loudly.
