As Written

‘As Written’ is from the ‘Fragment’ series, painted vignettes of visits to other places. This painting represents a wall. I find that I like to think of walls of historical buildings as a kind of absorbent wrapping around the spaces people have inhabited over the years. The stories of these people soak into the walls over time. They overlap, have uneven tone and, of course, there are always cracks.
This painting is ready to hang.

Denise Piva is from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
She has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from Deakin University and a Master of Art (FineArt) from Charles Sturt University.
For her, painting / making is an enriching and very enjoyable discipline.
The paintings represented here are mostly from a broad series entitled ‘Fragments’. 'Fragments' is best described as painted vignettes of visits to other places; colours, patterns - fragments of the whole experience, as it is difficult to appreciate in full. Focusing on a small section of the whole is doable and fun. Lately, the concept of ‘Fragments’ has expanded to include appreciation of the beauty and mindfulness of the ‘everyday’ fragments which enrich our lives.
Denise Piva's work is represented in The University of the Sunshine Coast and James Cook University collections as well as many private collections.
