First Genie

This painting is on a stretcher frame and ready to hang - no need for an external frame. ‘First Genie’ is from the ‘Fragments’ series, painted vignettes of visits to other places. I was drawn to the Assyrian relief sculpture in the Louvre, particularly the winged genii. Unlike the fairytale “three wishes” sort of genie, these genii are guardians or protectors but do possess supernatural powers.
I, of course, found the beards irresistible.
This painting is ready to hang as is and is suitable for the bedroom, office or living area.

She has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from Deakin University and a Master of Art (FineArt) from Charles Sturt University.

The paintings represented here are mostly from a broad series entitled ‘Fragments’. 'Fragments' is best described as painted vignettes of visits to other places; colours, patterns - fragments of the whole experience, as it is difficult to appreciate in full. Focusing on a small section of the whole is doable and fun. Lately, the concept of ‘Fragments’ has expanded to include appreciation of the beauty and mindfulness of the ‘everyday’ fragments which enrich our lives.
Denise Piva's work is represented in The University of the Sunshine Coast and James Cook University collections as well as many private collections.
