Palm Bark

A vibrant painting for the living room, hall, office or bedroom. It has an internal stretcher frame and a simple white external frame. It is ready to hang on the wall or prop on a side table or set of drawers.
Part of my ‘Fragments’ series, ‘Palm Bark’ is focused on a cropped section of bark. I’ve played with the patterns, lines and colour of the bark using oil paint on a blue base.

Denise Piva is from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
She has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from Deakin University and a Master of Art (FineArt) from Charles Sturt University.
For her, painting / making is an enriching and very enjoyable discipline.
The paintings represented here are mostly from a broad series entitled ‘Fragments’. 'Fragments' is best described as painted vignettes of visits to other places; colours, patterns - fragments of the whole experience, as it is difficult to appreciate in full. Focusing on a small section of the whole is doable and fun. Lately, the concept of ‘Fragments’ has expanded to include appreciation of the beauty and mindfulness of the ‘everyday’ fragments which enrich our lives.
Denise Piva's work is represented in The University of the Sunshine Coast and James Cook University collections as well as many private collections.
