The painting is of the Melbourne skyline at sunset, looking west from an escarpment above the Birrarung/Yarra River on Yarra Boulevard.
This is the same spot where I took inspiration for another recent painting - "Road above the River" - except this painting faced the opposite direction towards the easterly sunrise. There's something special about high points in the landscape - they seem to enable some degree of internal perspective as well as perspective on the landscapes they rise above.
