This piece is in a series I am currently painting, exploring different glass types and how light and liquid in vessels alters the form and how it is perceived in relation to light, colour and background.
This particular piece began with the beautiful art glass vase, to which a Negroni cocktail was added, presented in an antique, cut crystal, wine glass. As is common in my work, there is cut fruit. In this case, grapefruit, orange and a pear. The vase, quite a complex one to paint, is given prominence for this reason and sits on a stack of books.
