Nature's colour palette is quite remarkable. I am always in awe of what I see around me every day. Usually I paint plein air or from an image I have captured myself, however, I am particularly interested in bringing the usually unnoticed to life on canvas. Hence when I saw this image of a butterfly wing in a National Geographic magazine while waiting in a Dr's Surgery with my Son, I had to paint it. It was particularly refreshing after the long hours I spent on the Spirit of Hobart painting.
