Mixed Media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
When I create a piece the process is what drives me forward, as an emotional response to the theme is laid bare on the canvas. Pieces in this style are created by laying the canvas flat on the floor and working from above. Random marks emerge as I move around the canvas, loaded brush in hand, flicking and layering paint until the work is resolved. This piece includes plaster bandage which can be seen in the closeup shot. The piece was created for Reconciliation day and the plaster bandage signifies wounds that have not yet healed. Whilst the black and white paint represents a cohesion of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous cultures.
The work extends around the edges in some places, as can be seen in the closeup shot. It is ready to hang.
