The figure comes from a photo in a life drawing book
I was able to put the photo into the projector and bung the figure out quite quickly.
I wanted to use sharp lines to accentuate the under shadow, as opposed to the more mellow side shadow but I guess that sharp under shadow does give an
'El Greco' biblical, crucifix allegorical feel.
'Posing' is also an interesting interpretation, I was also remembering some rather enjoyable to remember events that took place in rather seedy circumstances... middle age so often is about enjoying enjoyable to remember memories...
Anyway, so moving right along, maybe there is that middle age habit of conducting conversations with the past...
Hence the sense of the figure talking
