In the Silences

In the Silences was based on the view from my studio, the solitary space I occupy, looking, staring, thinking contemplating. It is my interpretation of the view, where the man made has been removed and the mist simplifies the vista and blurs reality. ( I have since moved and have a new view in Tasmania)

In world mythologies cloud-crowned mountains have represented an elevation above the mundanity of everyday life. They were the abode of the gods and divine power. For spiritual aspirants the way up was obscured in veils of mist. The aim within my landscapes is to portray places of profound quietude that encourage the mind to rise aloft, to be aware of the transience of all things: the illusion of any notion of permanence.
