Artwork Description

Having recently moved to North West Tasmania, I am continuously gob smacked at the sheer beauty of this region. Still, somewhat as a tourist, I have visited the famous Tarkine which is the second largest expanse of cool temperate rainforest in the world and been shocked by the devastating damage logging and mining is inflicting on this area. I felt compelled to paint my memory of walking through the Tarkine, as one day it may only be a memory…

Artist Bio

In world mythologies cloud-crowned mountains have represented an elevation above the mundanity of everyday life. They were the abode of the gods and divine power. For spiritual aspirants the way up was obscured in veils of mist. The aim within my landscapes is to portray places of profound quietude that encourage the mind to rise aloft, to be aware of the transience of all things: the illusion of any notion of permanence.
