Down South Banksia was inspired from a trip to the south west of Western Australia. Despite being two weeks from the start of summer, the skies opened up and followed us from the canopies of Pemberton, to a beer festival in Fremantle, a friend's house in Dunsborough, a farm in Witchcliffe and back again to the big smoke .... before the sun followed us home.
But coming from the desert this was a beautiful change from the dry red dirt and the total of 65mm we received for all of last year.
But while soaking up the drizzle I did notice one thing. Everywhere we went were banksias. So many different species of banksia. So this is 'Down South Banksia', an ode to the gorgeous species that has adapted to thrive in so many environments.
The original 'Down South Banksia' is drawn on Arches 300GSM hot pressed cotton rag paper with 7 different thickness of black ink pens which have been layered on top of one another.
