Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
In a rare self-portrait, I have captured a moment in time.
A moment of exhaustion, sadness and joy.
As my art career took off, so did my family life. Having 2 children under 3 years old at my first solo art exhibition just a couple of years back now, they have been an inspiration to multiple bodies of work.
"Motherhood" is an evolving body of work that I continue to work on behind the scenes, this piece a very personal one, but one many mothers can relate too. That moment when 'all is too much', when we as mothers fall to the floor, this happens in the kitchen more than any other room (though I have found myself on I think every floor of every room in the house)
We so often see images glorifying, beautifying motherhood but in doing so we forget to be honest, to share the often-traumatic times that we can experience during the early years of motherhood.
This painting like, many others in my motherhood series, is designed to invite discussion, to share the frustrations and to normalise the chaos and insanity that comes with having little people underfoot.
Unlike, my pop art pieces, my expressive brushstrokes are more evident in these works, leaving every "mum" feeling on the canvas. This is a very personal piece and I hope you enjoy it.
The painting is stretched and ready to hang but does not come with an external frame.
Please Note: Photographs have been taken prior to varnishing, but the work will come varnished, the colours will "come to life" with a gloss varnish.
SIDES PAINTED AND VARNISHED ARTWORK DOES NOT REQUIRE EXTERNAL FRAME.
