Dear viewer, thanks for looking at my artworks. I would describe myself as an emerging artist best known for my brooding and emotive portraits and landscapes. It is both people and nature that resonate with me. A person's facial expression tells a story and I find nature to often be so hauntingly beautiful. The challenge is to go beyond a likeness and to portray the depth and essence of my subjects.

Working with oil paint and printmaking techniques, I work to fully engage the senses, a reviewer describing my work as 'having both intensity and emotive power'. In terms of tools of the trade I am drawn to the depth that can be achieved, and the slow progression of layers and drying time that typically characterises oil paint. It allows for gradual consideration and reflection and is in juxtaposition to the anticipation and immediacy that is experienced in the metamorphosis from plate to print.

Having attained my Bachelor in Fine Arts in the early nineties I have worked as an art educator, devoting time to everyone else's practice fully and my own art practice sporadically. Recently I decided to give my private art practice the commitment that was needed to make me an artist rather than a teacher. This is coming to fruition. 2018 has been host to my successful solo exhibition at Montsalvat in Melbourne and I was selected as a finalist in the Nillumbik Prize. My work features in various private collections and I am currently working on several commissions.
