Recently I’ve been fascinated and inspired by birds. Birds have always appeared in my work, but lately they have become the soul focus. Painting them in grand scale; the owl has always been a favourite of mine. The barn owl in this piece, to me, represents inner wisdom, courage and comfort. His questioning eye reminds me that you have to be true to yourself, and be present in the world with integrity. The title ‘Who?’ is an intriguing one, is he questioning the viewer, or questioning himself.

My bird series has been developing for several years now, with it’s roots in capturing my thoughts about learning to ‘fly’ as a painter, an artist and as a woman.
