I drew inspiration for this series as I contemplated on the picture that was painted by the famous and well-loved Australian poem by Dorothea Mackellar "My Country":
"I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!"
These paintings enrich a setting by providing an earthy appeal that also conveys a historical element. It is a subtle reminder that we live in the "Lucky Country"
They warm up a space by cultivating relaxation and comfort. The use of familiar shapes and colours yields a warm and welcoming ambience.
Texture is added to relay the beauty of our natural surroundings. Curved edges and muted, dusty hues provide a more organic, less cultivated look.
The organic and rustic nature of this series is easy on the eye and provides a restful ambience in a living room with its use of natural colours that complement the landscape in a palette of cream, beige, taupe and blue.
I chose to create this series on an ultra-light weight 3D board that channels the natural curves of our glorious landscape. Two or more artworks purchased from a series and placed horizontally on a wall will echo the horizon in a stunning fashion.
These paintings will provide a neutral and natural focal point for a room. Use them in a room with natural timber finishes, or to provide warmth to a modern space.
Paintings are hand-made, and are an original one-off painted using quality acrylic medium on a 3D board that is truly unique.
The surface is protected with a gloss acrylic medium.
The artwork comes framed in a white timber frame that is ready to hang. Due to the nature of the artwork, there is no glass on the frame.
