Artwork Description

I arrived in this ancient forest just as the mist was beginning to lift, with the light barely touching the upper branches. The world was hushed—no birdsong, no wind—only the soft rustle of unseen life stirring. It was as if the earth had taken a deep breath and was holding it, waiting for the sun’s first blessing. That atmosphere was what I needed to translate into paint.

While painting, I felt reverence—like I was walking inside a cathedral not built by hands. Every brushstroke felt like a whisper to the forest, and it whispered back with memories far older than me. The stream trickling across the lower part of the canvas represents that soft undercurrent of life, flowing silently beneath everything.

This piece isn’t just about trees or stones—it’s about the sacred stillness we can find when we truly listen to the morning. It’s about grounding and awakening all at once.

Artist Bio

Eugene’s practice reflects a lifelong affinity with nature. It’s a contemporary exploration of the wildlife in which figurative perfection dissolves into the evocation of mysterious spaces and utilizes spontaneous yet equitable range of hue. “Nature is the source of my inspiration. Everything I manifest and render is focused on harmony within her laws.”
Eugene uses most vivid colors in a vigorous application to express the uniqueness and define representation of wildlife attractiveness. Extensive knowledge of mixed media enables him to develop a most distinctive and recognizable manner that bridges the gap between the traditional academic approach and modern abstract art. His creations are not limited to any one subject or medium and demonstrate his outstanding perception and ability to focus on capturing details. “Since I started drawing I have become increasingly interested in understanding the painter’s two most fundamental tools: light and color.”
Eugene Rubuls is a widely recognized international artist who has successfully exhibited in art shows and galleries around Europe, Asia and Australia. His commissioned art work can be found in private collections all around the world.
