Belonging, to place and ancestors, is a strong impulse of Homo sapiens, yet in many ways is lost in our contemporary, global world. The ocean, which according to some theorists, was our home for part of our species' history, has become a strong calling, for that which we crave - belonging, home. The ocean becomes the "home" which connects us to our deeper selves, the collective consciousness and the great Feminine element, which now seeks to find balance in a patriarchal world. The sea, then, by virtue of its liquidity, ultimately disperses the need for staking our claim to "home" on land, as the water unites and blends us all, as one and reminds us that "home" is both within and all around us... a shared place.
