Artwork Description

"I will allow myself to break rules and explore the never ending abundance of my imagination. I will create with love.
I have walked through my past. I have healed into my present. I honour my experience and tell my stories. I am the author of my own life....."

Growing up as a child with a father in the Royal Australian Air Force we travelled a lot. Most schools I went to requested I adjust my handwriting.

During my teacher education training I was told I needed to change it again. It was back in the day when we created lots of charts by hand. (Looong before the miraculous smartboard) It would take hours and it was a frustrating process for me.

But now I can happily say my handwriting is very much my own and I love to combine my words with art.💕

This self portrait combines my love of mixed media and art journaling.
Edition 2 of 10.

Artist Bio

Fiona Hill is an Australian contemporary abstract artist based in Windsor, Melbourne.
Her creative process is an intuitive one and involves a building up of layers of colour and texture with acrylic paints and inks. Her paintings are characterized with painterly brushstokes and drips. She works with a combination of thick and transparent layers of colour allowing the foundation layers to show through. Fiona is interested in capturing the fleeting sensations of colour and light. The abstract nature invites personal interpretation - some might see a colourful sky, a dreamscape, or an emotional expression.

Fiona's paintings have a luminous, soft and dream like quality. The overall effect is ethereal and calming, making it well suited to a minimalist, modern interior. Its guaranteed to offer viewers an escape from the chaos of a busy life. Her style is distinctive and unique. Fiona's paintings are held in private collections in Australia and in other parts of the world.

"The process of creating is important and rewarding to me. Life is much more fulfilling when we are in regular touch with our creative source." - Fiona
