Artwork Description

This little spotted pardalote visits my Melbourne garden regularly and I have been wanting to paint him for a long time.

In this painting I have brought together two sides of my practice — the abstract world of colour, loops and mark-making that defines my work, and a more observed, figurative element. The pardalote sits within a luminous green world of layered colour and looping forms, somewhere between reality and imagination.
This is the first painting where loved and observed creatures from my garden find their place within abstract colour fields.

Original acrylic on canvas. Ready to hang.

Size: 30 x 30cm

Artist Bio

I have been painting for twenty years — first quietly, as a private practice, and now with the intention of sharing that joy with others.
I am a Melbourne-based artist working in acrylic, and my paintings are explorations of joy, colour and the things I love — birds, flowers, botanicals and the hidden geometry I find everywhere in the natural world.
My work brings together two things: the expressive abstract world of colour and mark-making, and the observed, loved creatures and objects from my daily life. A spotted pardalote in the garden. A magnolia in bloom. The loops and forms that repeat across nature.
Every painting is one of a kind, made in my Melbourne studio — for people who want to feel something when they walk into a room.
