I like the contrasting characteristics of the built and natural environment in the image of swimming pools; it brings in a sensibility of design by the human hand that contrasts with natural, organic life. This is one of a series of studies of the aesthetics of swimming pools.

This art explores colour, form, pattern and figuration and recompose the shapes and shadows of nature and the built environment. It is based on realism with a distortion factor, canvassing aspects of the ordinary and the extraordinary and evoking a sense of the social dynamics and psychological layers of identity and place.
