Hotel pool

This is one of a series of studies of the aesthetics of swimming pools. Added to the natural phenomena of light, colour, reflection and movement of water are the industrial tropes of sharp angles, opposing textures and spatial, geometric composition.

This art explores colour, form, pattern and figuration and recompose the shapes and shadows of nature and the built environment. It is based on realism with a distortion factor, canvassing aspects of the ordinary and the extraordinary and evoking a sense of the social dynamics and psychological layers of identity and place.
