Poolside

Hats off to David Hockney. He did such wonderful works featuring swimming pools that it has made it difficult for others to follow. Everything else seems derivative. However there are no dead-ends really, just interpretations. I like the built environment; it brings in a sensibility of design by the human hand. Added to natural phenomena of colour, reflection and movement of water are the industrial tropes of sharp angles, opposing textures and spatial composition. This is one of a few studies of the aesthetics of pools.
