Artwork Description

These vegetables are an absolute favourite in French and Mediterranean cuisine––these vegetables, with a variety of different botanical names are most commonly known throughout all the English speaking countries as comfort food.

It is believed they have all originated in Europe, where they continue to grow, cultivated in all European cultures and across the world, embraced in their respective European cuisines.
In this painting,

I was drawn in by the interesting colours and textures these vegetables provided; with the light reflections, coming off from a natural light source––soft filtered light, falling over the vegetables, giving off a soft warm glow in the foreground.

Delicate brush strokes and palette knife techniques were applied to highlights and mid-tones mimicking brilliant light-flashes across the tomatoes; the rest of the subject matter melts away into the dark muted background of darker tones and shadows.

Artist Bio

My passion for the Fine Arts has led me on a journey through the rich tapestry of art movements, inspiring me to experiment boldly with a variety of painting techniques.

To best describe myself and my Fine Art work, I'd say I’ve always sought new ground to explore, using different ways to create and trying new methods in the search for excellence within recognised Art movements. My artwork, created these days, is done individually, focused on personal and private appreciation; a fine painter and artist creating solely for private collectors who share my vision. My enjoyment is producing oil paintings of the highest quality for discerning collectors.

Throughout my career in Sydney, I immersed myself in the vibrant world of art as a Fine Artist, Senior Art Director, and Artist-Illustrator. I collaborated with leading Ad Agencies and Art & Graphic Design Studios, all while nurturing my passion for Fine Art through life drawing, portraiture, landscapes, still lifes, and contemporary abstract works. As a self-employed Freelance Artist in the Art and Advertising Industry, I thrived in diverse roles, consistently delivering exceptional conceptual Advertising Art, Graphic Design, and Illustrative Artworks. My dedication was recognised with several awards, including the Australian Writers and Art Directors 1986 Advertising Award for Design and Art-Illustration. Highlights of my career include illustrating Australian native birds for BHP Stainless Steel calendars, designing and illustrating booklets and brochures, creating Impressionist-inspired pieces for Deloitte Touche Thomatsu, and depicting native animals for Yeramba Estates.
