I set this scene of an alpine region of Europe in the early morning in the dead of winter. An icy river flows through the landscape, the cream-wintry sky being perfectly reflected in parts of it. Snow covered mountains in the distant background are highlighted by a timid sun, and accentuate the vastness of the scene. The sadness and lifelessness of the vegetation add to the frozen-in-time feel of the scene, which still exudes great beauty, as nature is a perfect expression of beauty in all seasons.
