This painting is of me on a Friday afternoon. I had just finished a painting and I was sitting in the main studio chatting to other artists. I have quite often sat here and thought about painting this scene. I grabbed my sketchbook and sketched this scene from various angles. The little dog ‘Idili’ moves from one couch to the other so I decided to paint her twice in the painting! I wanted to capture the joy I feel at being at the studio. I also wanted to play around with perspective to give a sense of movement and capturing a moment in time. I hope you like it!
