Shadowland II, Ocean Grove

Walking along the Ocean Grove coastline, I was drawn to capture this scene because of its' dramatic afternoon backlit clifftops, and the shady, seemingly insignificant landscape and sandscape with all the texture and drama in the foreground.

This piece has a strong diagonal energy, with the eye being drawn to the cavernous cliff interior in the right hand third . Looking closely the lines are very abstract, but from a distance the artwork is a very clear scene. I hope you enjoy it.

The artwork is awaiting framing, to protect the pastel (included in price). It will be framed in a minimal profile solid Blackwood frame with wide matboard and glass (see frame on 'Shadowland #I). Overall frame size is 75cm x 95cm.

I've always loved drawing since childhood; on paper, wood, bricks, anything I could get my hands on! Drawing underpins whichever medium I'm using at any time, from ink and wash sketches to larger soft pastel works, and acrylic painting. Apart from drawing, colour use is a strength through all mediums and I find a lot of joy in it.

My inspiration has, and will always come from nature; gardens, flora, landscapes, skies, rocks and foliage.

Aside from art, I use colour and form in my Interior Design practice which I have run for 15 years; and I also commission Bluethumb art for my clients!
