The usual suspects

The Usual Suspects is named so because the Protea and Banksia are typically my favourite flower species to paint; and those who know me know! Sculptural and interesting, they always make great compositions. This was modelled on flowers in my studio, and I offset the composition on the canvas to avoid a traditional setting.

I've always loved drawing since childhood; on paper, wood, bricks, anything I could get my hands on! Drawing underpins whichever medium I'm using at any time, from ink and wash sketches to larger soft pastel works, and acrylic painting. Apart from drawing, colour use is a strength through all mediums and I find a lot of joy in it.

My inspiration has, and will always come from nature; gardens, flora, landscapes, skies, rocks and foliage.

Aside from art, I use colour and form in my Interior Design practice which I have run for 15 years; and I also commission Bluethumb art for my clients!

I live with my young boys, hubby and Truffle the cat in Banyule Victoria - Wurundjeri Country.
