This beautiful rugged part of our nation is just a short walk up from the city of Launceston, Tasmania. It is known as "The Gorge" and is a must see if visiting that part of Australia. It resembles a huge granite curtain full of colour and pattern and is more evidence of the antiquity and splendor of this land. An obvious feature of this subject is texture , both vegetation and the geology and so was perfect for thick and dry brushed oil paint. It is a "gutsy" painting making a strong , simple statement and would need its own space.
