My reinterpretation of a figure from the Sistine Chapel, after Michelangelo.
Alongside my goal of creating this beautiful figure in Venetian oil technique - of underpainting layers of flesh and glazes to give the skin a glowing quality - besides the hard edge sculptural forms .. I wanted to play a bit on the architectural scene and make the shapes in the composition more like abstract 'Platonic' solids.
The contrast of the square, linear and circular shapes are a nice foil to set off the figure. I hope you enjoy this reworking on a classic theme,
gord.
