Childhood visits to my maternal Grandparent’s Elderslie home were happy times. Sandwiched between the Big River & Oyster Bay Nations, and located approximately 40 KM North West of Hobart, Elderslie is a beautiful part of Tasmania; and I have fond memories of the creeks, the animals, and the surrounding forest there. When thinking about Elderslie, I am reminded of my solo adventures following the wombat and animal trails into the nearby state forest. I recall the things my Grandfather taught me, the local knowledge of terrain and the bush foods he passed on to me; often guided and sustained me on my mini solo adventures into the adjoining forest.
The curving lines and shapes created on my painting represent the animal tracks, the creek, trees and vegetation, and remind me of those great childhood adventures.
