As an artist I am driven by the satisfaction that comes from many aspects of working creatively. These aspects include seeing ideas come to fruition, reclaiming discarded items and giving them new life, living simply, showing appreciation to inspiration and working with a purpose. Largely this purpose is to connect my kids to a life filled with hands on creativity and to encourage them to build their own simple satisfaction. I take huge joy in connecting with other artists and love the rollercoaster ride that art can be.
My art style varies greatly, although I largely work with acrylics, as well as some mixed media. I am most drawn to using bold colours and making bold statements.
My work is often inspired by my lifestyle as a free spirited mother of two fierce kids, to highlight our fragility and human-ness in a light hearted, fun and relatable way. My aim is to encourage my viewers to dare to think differently, to think deeply and also to smile.
Not quite ready to grow up ever, my work is often inspired by the freedom and power that comes with youth!
Living 'surf side' in Port Elliot, South Australia, I continuously draw inspiration from our natural environment, in particular the ocean, as I see so clearly it's importance to how we live and function at our best, and I strongly feel our need to preserve that is great.
While maintaining good mental health and our environment are topics that are very dear to me, my goal is maintain a lighthearted approach and to allow people to find their own interpretation in my work.
