Hannah Bailey, it’s fair to say, is a unique and explorative kind of artist.
In every sense of exploration, seeking new angles on how we view the world, all the while adventuring through connection, growth and thought processing. For Hannah, these components of exploring always tie back to creativity and deeper meaning. As a Mother raising daughters in a world clawing for attention, Hannah’s aim is to draw from what serves her in the simplest of forms, finding inspiration in nature, music, social interaction and releasing ideas through busy hands. Her main art form is textured mixed media seascapes, often in aerial view. In 2025, this practice has led Hannah into a new world of 3D sculpted seascapes to also reach a vision impaired audience, with the hopes to create stunning visual artwork that is more accessible to a wider audience.
Hannah grew up in the country town of Mount Compass, South Australia, amongst a family of project people, car enthusiasts, musicians, wood workers, cake decorators, artists and ideas.
As a child, to fill passing time was an easy thing. To get to the beach was another. Over the hill and out of walking distance for Hannah, the ocean called like a blank page with no need to be busy, a rare treat, a sensory experience that quietened the mind and spoke for itself, as nature does.
Needless to say, Hannah moved to the seaside in her youth. Married young and untimely widowed, her journey has also been one of navigating loss while raising two unbelievably fierce and beautiful daughters.
These uncharted waters have been the fuel for Hannah building a life that is flexible, passion driven and points to the core of what serves and motivates her.
Years of art practice has taken Hannah through all manner of explorative creative endeavours, from realism to pop art, needlework, fashion and textile recycling, furniture restoration and skateboard upcycling, not to mention years of humble yet mighty craft alongside her children. Ultimately her creative itch is best scratched through a highly tactile process… making something glorious from a glorious mess, using her head and her hands in unison to explore and discover.
As Hannah grows through her art journey and that of motherhood, she has begun to define the balance between how things appear in life versus how they feel, which leads her now towards searching for further purpose in her widely celebrated mixed media work. Strongly drawn to bold colour and impactful visuals, Hannah moves through every moment in the studio with gratitude for the ability to be there, to work flexibly, to use her hands, to share her vision of life through natural inspiration and human touch. Hannah hopes now, upon refining her methods, that through her 3dimensional sculpted artwork, all viewers can experience a trip to a beautiful place, feeling inspired and connected, as well as any art enthusiasts seeking a more sensory experience from their wall art.
