Part of a series of semi abstract collage artworks inspired by the Red Centre of Australia. This ancient landscape, millions of years old, features massive rocks arising from the dusty red earth,, with scrubby plants and occasional waterholes when it rains. The colours of the Red Centre are vibrant and glowing, the sky a brilliant blue, the rocks are red, orange, purple and grey. Sunrise and sunset are truly magical.
This piece has been created on a cradled panel, the sides are natural timber with a fine black keyline at the top edge. The deep 4cm sides make it a great piece to sit on a table or shelf, or it can be hung on a wall with wiring provided. Combines perfectly with others in the series.
Painting with paper……this piece is mostly collage using papers I have painted myself. My process begins with underpainting the design using acrylic paints, and then meticulously tearing and cutting shapes from my large collection of painted papers. These pieces are individually glued into place. The final steps include small touches of colour with a variety of dry media, pencils, acrylic markers, whatever is needed to bring it to life. The surface has a gentle tactile feel.
This painting was created on a cradled wood panel, and has been finished to show the wooden sides perfectly, with just a fine black edge between wood and art. The whole painting, and the timber edges, have been finished with a soft satin varnish to protect it, and to enhance the colours.
Ready to hang, no framing is required.
