This collection of four small paintings has been influenced by a trip to Mexico I made where I fell under the spell of their much loved 20th Century artist, Rodolfo Morales. I have tried to capture his brightness of colour, his use of simplified shapes and sometimes surreal images.
Dogs gladden my own home, and I have included one in each of these paintings, intending that this motif may add a heart-warmed smile and a lightness of spirit to the viewer.
I was also delighted by pottery and weaving designs in my exploration of art during this trip and I have added borders in the Mexican style on all four edges. (See side views of each painting where these are highlighted.) My intent is a light-hearted decorative pattern in keeping with the intimate nature of the images.
The last image here shows how all 4 of these paintings might look together should you wish to purchase them as a set.
