Glass on glass

Signed on the back.

'Finding Connections' is a collection of glass sculptures inspired by my journey as a glassblower and the experiences of living in various parts of the world. These pieces explore the theme of human connections across borders and oceans.
I've incorporated the traditional Venetian glass technique of cane, but pushed its boundaries by creating intricate and overlapping lines instead of structured patterns. This approach symbolizes the complexity of our relationships and how they evolve over time.
The sculptures capture the essence of chance encounters and unexpected connections, like bumping into someone from a distant place. They aim to convey the emotions and atmosphere of these moments.
In my work, I aspire to do more than replicate physical structures. "Finding Connections" is an artistic journey that mirrors the intricate web of relationships we weave throughout our lives.

light blue abstract sculpture digitally generated made from glass It wasn’t until I started my exploration of these native botanicals that I realised how much of the Australian landscape has been altered by invasive plant species. I decided to develop an ‘Invasive Botany Vase’ series as well, incorporating plants that have been introduced to Australia from other parts of the world. No one can deny that the plants depicted in these works, both native and invasive, hold beauty and significance for many Australians. While ‘invasive’ is a word that often has negative connotations, this assembled collection is not meant to offend, but rather encourage conversation about how we can preserve and celebrate our native landscapes whilst still enjoying the incredible diversity of botany that has been imported from other parts of the world.
