COMPLICATED LOVE-RAINBOW ROSES was inspired by a bunch of rainbow roses in a flower shop located in Toorak arcade. Me and my husband walked pass by it in a quiet Saturday afternoon. We stopped by, and I had a very close look of the amazing colour combination and composition of those roses, it was captivating and breath-taking.
The image was always in my mind so I chose to paint it down on canvas.

Love is always complicated to me. Love is a combination of needs, wants, desires in all different kind of form ,sometimes it is compromise.

Young love is strong, passionate, like a hot summer day with red roses bloomimg and quick stormy shower. We tried so hard and willing to do whatever it takes to learn what love is.

But somehow, maybe someday, You may also find love can be peaceful ,contain, but still full of all the good and bad things in life ,and just like a short walk pass by a flower shop in a quiet afternoon. The simple companion means a thousand words.

I started this particular painting with a purplish gold for under layer,because purple stands for a soft heart, tenderness and romance to me.
But when I finished the whole piece ,I used a wide heavy duty brush to paint the whole background white to stands out the colourful flower petals , but still left some uneven storkes texture showing some purplish hue underneath if you take a really close look of the detail of it.

So I choose these specific rainbow roses, which contain many colours, contained many different emotions and meanings in life to tribute to "Love".
If you have someone who you can stopped by in a random place to adore the beauty of a flowers or whatever it is with, than you have love already.
And, maybe share a unique,one of a kind ,beautiful rainbow roses painting that will never wilt to your special one in a special day would be a brilliant idea? I hope you enjoy the painting as much as I do too.

HSIN LIN, Award-winning Artist based in Melbourne, Australia.
In Hsin Lin’s ongoing, signature contemporary floral series that feature native and common flowers we know, flowers represent life and each different type of flower has a unique symbolic meaning.
Lin is inspired by her close observation of the natural world. Through a process of careful looking Lin is able to capture an incredible amount of intricate detail. To create the larger-scale work, Lin normally spends 6-16 months developing the intricate composition. The fine details such as the tiny petals have been developed through ten or more layers of paint. Lin describes that ‘although still-life is considered a traditional genre, each object in the paintings stands for a different meaning and has its own story. Flowers represent us as humans, vases represent the body carrying our soul, protecting us like a shield. The weaving basket stands for connections—the bonds between families, friends and all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole and we are stronger together.’ Lin’s paintings, a series of flowers in full bloom, remind us that we are alive and that life is vibrant, blossoming and full of potential.


[BIOGRAPHY]
Hsin Lin is a Melbourne-based award-winning artist who specializes in contemporary floral paintings. In both her expressive and realistic works, Lin has devoted herself to capturing the beauty and serenity embodied by the floral motifs she paints. Lin was featured in Australia Artist’s Palette magazine in 2017. She has exhibited widely and been recognized in various local art shows including the Camberwell Art Show, The Victorian Artists Society, amongst others. Lin has work in the permanent collection of the Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA), she was the winner of the National Mental Health Month Art Competition 2019, runner-up in 2020, 3rd Prize in 2021, and 3rd Prize in 2022. Her artworks are held in numerous private collections across Australia and internationally. Additional collaborations include Art Publishing Australia 2025 collection, Maroondah Council 2022/2023 Arts and Cultural Grant – Public art project: Blossoms of Life - The Eucalyptus Flower For Everyone, Maroondah City Council’s Public Art project Signal Boxes (2021), BioPak Australia Art Series (2018 & 2025), and Avant Card Australia Postcard (2017).
