Good Food, Good Mood. - Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo
10/06/2020

If you are interested a little background story of this artwork - to be frank , I may or may not love my food a bit too much during the lock down in Victoria, that’s why I couldn’t help to name this artwork - Good Food, Good Mood. - Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo.

By HSIN LIN
40.6cm (H) x 50.8cm (W) x 1.5cm (D)
Metallic Gold paint are used. It’s rich in texture and shines beautifully when you look at the physical painting.
Artist Acrylic on triple primed gesso Acid free canvas. Sealed with clear spray varnish. Signed at front, sides painted black to match and ready to hang. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Painted with palette knife and brushes.

As many of you may know I don’t paint birds very often, but when I do it’s normally a self-projection.

Affirmation: Listen to the whispers in your heart. Taking a break is for accomplishing a longer, better journey.
There’s also a saying that black cockatoo stands for the energy of empowerment, happiness and contentment. The power of spirit come into our life, a strengthening of our own spirit and soul.

Yellow-tailed black cockatoo, a large cockatoo native to Australia. It has a short crest on the top of its head. Its plumage is brownish black and it has prominent yellow cheek patches and a yellow tail band. Body feathers are edged with yellow giving a beautiful scalloped appearance.
The adult male has a black beak and pinkish-red eye-rings, and bone-coloured beak and grey eye-rings for the female.

I spotted this gorgeous during my visiting to Tasmania last summer with my family.
We have a lot of white cockatoos in our area but rarely a black one.
We spent quite some time with this little fellow, who was having his lunch before us, peaceful but powerful. It’s a calm and delightful scene to enjoy.
As if he was talking to me – Why so hurry? Let’s have lunch first! It’s good to slow down in a fast-paced world.

I captured the sight with my eyes and camera, it was a wonderful memory together with my family.
During the lock down, I found this photo I took last summer and captured this beautiful friend with my paint brushes, worked in my studio for quite sometimes and finally have it completed today.
I would like to share the beautiful moment with you, hope this artwork pass you good vibes too.

Riverview in wonderland
60.9 x91.4 x4 cm
24 " X 36 " Acrylic on pine frame Canvas.
21/March /2017.
This painting was inspired by nature in Warburton, Yarra River, east of Lilydale, on the road to Mount Donna Buang,
It was a calm and quiet afternoon and I was fascinated by the view of the golden sunlight shines on the right side of the trees and the glistening river.
In a valley between heavily forested mountains, feel the water flows toward you, you are the one who's in your own way. Everything you desired is already yours.
Water is the start of life, from Feng Shui point of view, water is also well known as the symbol of fortune.
A nonstop, steady river water flows toward you brings you great luck and financial abundance.
A variety of different colourful foliage symbolized the abundance of life.

Affirmation: The world is your colour palette, let’s colour the mood and journey bright.
As many of you may know I don’t paint birds often, but when I do it’s normally a self-projection.
This artwork was inspired by my visit to the Ballarat Bird World. I spent a wonderful day observing all our precious Australian Native Birds.
Rosella has the spiritual meaning of eternal love, devotion, or a shared journey in life.
Pale-headed Rosella (Platycercus adscitus) are common in Australia, their vivid hues enriching the colour in nature whenever we see them. The Pale yellow and blue rosella can be easily identified by its iconic white and yellow head. Endemic to eastern Australia. Occurs in a wide range of open habitats, and mostly in pairs rather than large flocks.

“I catch a flash of red-gold beneath the surface of the water, and realize that there are koi in the pond, massive, serene, and I wonder: are they dreams of fish, or fish who dream?”— Sarah Monette
Artwork inspired by my memory of visiting a temple up the mountain with family in Hong Kong many years ago. There’s a big pond in the garden, I observed those red- golden big koi swimming peacefully in the lily pond, these koi seem happy, and must have lived many years to grow this big.
I enjoyed the scene quietly, captured the magical scene with my eyes, and the memory is fresh just like it was yesterday.
This artwork is also painted during the lockdown in Victoria as we are having it again.
A special isolation diary that I wrote with my paintbrushes. Hope you enjoy this original artwork of mine.

Affirmation- When the orchid blooms in the colour of the sun, love, hope and happiness radiate into your heart.
When an Artist paint an artwork, we put a piece of ourselves out there, into the painting.
To experience the seasons, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom around my surrounding, during its flowering season.
In this particular painting, the delicate, exotic and graceful orchid represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. The fact that it can survive during cold temperatures is what makes the plant popular.
Cymbidium Orchid Flower also symbolizes perfection, passion, refinement and wealth.
The flower always blooms in its own time without competing with other flowers.
May we all bloom in our time in the best season.
Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine.

Affirmation: What pleases us shapes our harvest.
To experience the changing of the seasons and to present moments, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom in my surrounding during its flowering season. This artwork is inspired by the Passion Vine that I spotted in my neighbourhood close to my art studio.
I was fascinated by those interesting fringed petals and splendorous tendrils; the white petals shine bright like precious gems under the sunshine.
Fun Fact about these unusual blossoms - Passion Flower Essence is used to purify and strengthen one’s connection to unconditional love even nowadays.
A Truly Special and Symbolic Gift- Passion Flower, was named by Roman Catholic priests in the 15th and 16th centuries for the Passion of Jesus Christ. There were old sayings that the flower's five petals and five petallike sepals represented the 10 faithful apostles. The circle of filaments in the centre of the bloomsome stands for the Crown of Thorns.

Flowers always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine.

Affirmation – Let’s not lose hope.
Gerbera Daisies are strong perennial plants with a delightful flower’s message.
The flowers symbolized happiness and gratefulness for the life you have been given.
They are a celebration of life. The Egyptian believed that the gerbera would lessen the sorrows and stresses of everyday life in the old days. It also has a meaning of closeness to nature and devotion to the sun.
Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas, native to South America however some have become naturalized in the United States, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.
In 1753 Baron Claus von Alstomer, a Swedish baron, discovered the flower while collecting seeds on a trip to Spain. The Alstroemeria flower was named after him.
This long-lasting flower symbolises devotion and friendship. Alstroemeria is also a symbol of wealth, fortune and prosperity.
Symbolic of powerful Yang energy, Chrysanthemums are believed to represent longevity, joy and attractant of good luck in the home. If you receive chrysanthemums from someone, it is a symbol of love.
The beautiful sun-coloured yellow rose can also convey warmth, delight and affection, as well as say good luck, welcome back, and remember me. The yellow rose is the perfect flower for someone who needs a little cheering up.

Affirmation: Dream big, dream glow.
To experience the seasons, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom around my surroundings, during its flowering season. This artwork was inspired by a day trip to Olinda, Victoria. This gorgeous bouquet caught my attention.
Protea flowers - native to Australia and South Africa, symbolise courage and Love. I am especially in love with the story behind the name: In Greek legend, proteas were named after Proteus, the son of Poseidon. A sea god who had the power to know all things past, present, and future.
Banksia coccinea, native to Western Australia, also known as the scarlet banksia, waratah banksia or Albany banksia, is an erect shrub or small tree in the family Proteaceae. Banksia coccinea plants are killed by bushfire, and regenerate from seed.
Banksia symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings. To move on from the past courageously, to have the strength to look forward to tomorrow.
Leucadendrons are often used to convey an appreciation for simplicity in life. The blossoms are uncomplicated and have a simple appearance to them. Simple beauty is one of the most popular meanings for this bloom.
As for my all-time favourite - Eucalyptus leaves stand for Healing and Protection.
All the native blossoms bloom gloriously like a dream. Therefore, I have the title - Blooming Dreams, for this particular artwork.
Flowers always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. May we all bloom in our time in the best season. Hope you enjoy this artwork of mine.
