The NSW Waratah is a coveted flower that is stolen throughout NSW National Parks, threatening the survival of the species. Park rangers are charged with the task of slashing these beautiful flowers with a vivid blue paint to help stop the theft, to make them less tempting to thieves, and hopefully help maintain the species for generations to come. In my painting, I have used stark colours and contrasts, discords and complimentary colours to dramatise the beauty and destruction involved in this process.
