Artist Bio

Hi my name is Morag, I went to the National Art School, in Sydney where I gained a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art, majoring in painting. I also attended classes at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney in landscape painting, still life painting and life drawing and painting too. I work as an artist and teacher.
I love colour and painting from life. I love the play of light on a subject and the shadows which are cast. I like to go ‘plein air’ painting, trying to capture the ever changing colours and light play on the landscape. I also retreat into the studio to control the light and shadows on my still life works.
I have previously been known as a more impressionistic artist, but have adapted and experimented in a number of styles and subjects, possibly more realistic of late. However I enjoy letting my hair down with quick sketch life drawings and strong colour and various mark making techniques. Painting is always an ever dynamic medium.
