This is a very special Tryptich commission I have just completed for a Bluethumb art collector.
Lee made contact with me via Bluethumb after seeing my very much smaller 'Finders Keepers' series of gumleaf studies on small wooden panels from 2017 (10cm x 40cm). I communicated directly with Lee via the inbox feature and discovered the large gumleaf artworks in mind were to fill a particular void in the light, airy staircase area of a recently renovated home - which happens to have a beautiful outlook towards gumtrees! Lee sent me some photos of the area and I was quickly able to envisage the earthy, warm tones to suit the interior of the home and assist with the scale and measurements that would be required for the space. The tallest of the set stands at 270cm high, barely fitting under my ceiling to paint them! The other two stand at 227cm high and 184cm; each are 49cm wide.
I am so thrilled with the result!
Gumleaves are a constant source of inspiration in my arts practice - I never tire of admiring the unique character, colour and beauty of our Australian native flora.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
Jackie works in oils from her studio in Melbournes CBD, or alternatively a home based studio in the coastal town of Inverloch, Bass Coast of Victoria.
Drawn to contrasts in colour and textures, reflections and light observed in her everyday surroundings, Jackie loves to celebrate the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Through an intuitive process of mark-making and colour she strives to capture and share unique perspectives through her artworks.
Native flora and natural themes found within her suburban and coastal environments are subjects she consistently engages with, inspired to share her joy of these 'beauties' with others.
Jackie often works at a larger scale and enjoys enhancing textural elements by infusing her work with vibrant colours and generous, painterly marks.
Images of stillness and solitude are themes she intuitively explores through her personal photography - many of which become reference for her artworks.
Her paintings begin with sketching and drawing to create the composition; A thoughtful process right through to the signing and naming of each completed artwork.
A recent series of work explored the Nylex clock and silos - an iconic Melbourne landmark located in her neighbourhood, a series not typical of her genre but which evolved during the Covid 19 Pandemic whilst spending prolonged time ‘locked-down’ at home with the clock and silos in direct view.
Jackie undertook formal art studies a mature aged student complimenting her earlier careers in visual merchandising; Graphic design and illustration. Until the Pandemic in 2020 she also created and presented art workshops for primary school aged children.
As a freelance designer and illustrator, her work included logo design, textile designs, placement prints and branding concepts for company mascots.
Jackie has also illustrated many books for children - most recently 'Our Dad is Fun!' 2024.
