A small 30 x 30cm oil study which was part of a series exploring my favourite genre 'still life', focusing on glass, bottles, reflections, completed between 2015/2016. For a period I became quite obsessed by the effects of light and the shapes and distortions created through glass bottles, and other ordinary vessels.
The more you look the more you see when it comes to glass and I really enjoy the challengeand 'practise' presented by this subject. 'Glass half full' is a thumbs up to my general attitude to life - and perhaps the result of my effort with this little piece! It's all about finding the colours, seeing them again somewhere else, translating the merging light, curves of the liquid-like shapes into a transparent, but convincing form....asnd I particularly like these amber colours.
