This painting was inspired by a trip to the magnificent Karijini N.P in 2016. The colours of the Pilbara are simply breathtaking! (...and captured brilliantly by Fred Williams ) Karijini has to be seen to be believed! I was particularly intrigued by the incredible colours and layers of strata, as we walked through the geological formations within the gorges...slate blues, ochres, reds, greens, dark yet vibrant - compressed over millions of years. I felt compelled to paint this snapshot of what I experienced during my visit to Karijini N.P - It really is incredible and a relatively unknown corner of Australia.
