This painting has a fantastic colour vibration. I wanted this painting to be about movement, flux and have a positive active mood with the colours electric and possessing a vivacious energy. It was stimulated by my work with the vastness in micro-worlds where the light and colour have a beautiful invigorating energy.
The tangerine orange is so alive, such a dynamic colour creating vivid high notes. It was the perfect backdrop for the effervescent dance of the ovoid forms in the foreground. This is like a highly charged electro-field of colour pulsating across the surface yet enchanting and mesmerising at the same time.
This painting really belongs to both my ‘’Life Enlarged’ & ‘Aqua Vitae’ Series, which were paintings I was commissioned to do about wine. It continues along with my interest in the microscopic minutiae of life as well as alluding to, as the title suggests, the vital waters of life, the life essence. The depth of molecular life with the depth of colour and vivacity of wine on the palate, in the glass and in world history.
I had a lot fun making this work; I hope you enjoy it too.
