Artwork Description

Acrylic on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This is an original one off, abstract painting on round plywood panel ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

Coastal life thrills me. Sealife amazes me. All the wonderous creatures and the multi-layered landscapes beneath the surface of water. It is a place of beauty, comfort, discovery and otherworldliness. I find these things beautiful and soothing just like creating art.

'Rock Pool Life Field II' continues in my fascination with the ocean and minutiae of life. It belongs to my β€˜Bio Bloom’ Series exploring the sublime beauty of microscopic life and the natural world. I am deeply inspired by the natural world and the forces that shape it, especially the ocean. All the tiny fragments of the universe and patterns of life.

The organic shapes and motifs I use allude to pulsating growth formations, cellular life forms and to the beautiful otherworldliness of the microscopic building blocks of life.
The shapes I have used and their arrangement are intended to form visual intrigue moving in and out of focus and relating to our memories of things in nature and particularly the growth formations in rock-pools and tidelines. The roundness of the paintings shape allows you to come in close like looking through a circular camera or microscope lens or the round window of a submarine. I love that your eyes get to explore and discover subtle hidden shapes and patterns within the painted surface. Some fun for the eye and the mind.

Ultimately the paintings are about connecting to our sense of awe and wonder at these miraculous building blocks of life. The hope is that the paintings trigger a beautiful uplifting and contemplative experience for the viewer. An experience that also reminds us of the beauty in, and of our important relationship to, the fragile natural world.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls interest and a splash of colour for years to come.

PLEASE NOTE that Bluethumb framing option is not available for this round painting.
If you are happy to put it into a square frame I can arrange this at an additional fee.
