From my Wishing On The Same Moon series.
The inspiration for my acrylic painting, "Calling Out For You," was drawn from the emotional depth and lyrical beauty of the Powderfinger song "Wishing On The Same Moon." The poignant verse "Hear me now I'm calling out for you, Pleading for your love, You're falling from my view, and there's nothing I can do" serves as the emotional core of the artwork. It's a painting about the profound feeling of missing someone and the longing that accompanies such an absence.
In this dreamscape surrealism piece, a bird takes centre stage as it soars through the canvas, symbolising the yearning and desire to bridge the distance between two hearts. Surrounding the bird is a speech bubble that forms a protective border around it. Inside the speech bubble is an image of a golden moon, representing the celestial connection that transcends physical separation. The moon's luminescence adds a sense of hope and magic to the composition, evoking the idea that love and longing can reach across great distances.
"Calling Out For You" is a painting that seeks to encapsulate the universal human experience of missing someone dear. It invites viewers to connect with the emotions and the desire to reach out, to convey feelings of love, and to bridge the gap between hearts. The dreamscape and surrealism elements enhance the sense of depth and emotion, making the artwork both introspective and evocative.
