I'm wishing on the same moon and stars above you
We're wishing on the same moon”

Wishing On The Same Moon Collection
I tend not to create collections. My imagination wanders too far and too fast to commit to creating more than a few of each idea. This time I wanted to sit with the idea, explore it and really try to capture the emotions behind it.
And who here cannot easily feel lost love and the pain of missing someone? Even if long in the past it’s so easy to pick it up and hold it close again. I’ve been married for a long time now but work keeps us apart for stretches of time and I miss him when he’s gone.
This song reminds me that we’re still together, even when apart.
It’s been a bit of a Powderfinger year for me this year. I got to see guitarist Darren Middleton for the second time in Brisbane in February before COVID-19 hit, watched them on YouTube for a reunion special and then they released a new song. So when I started thinking of a collection based around a song, choosing one of theirs felt like a natural choice. After all I was already listening to them every day, letting my mind wander as I day dreamed, it felt like an easy choice to make.
Wishing On The Same Moon is one of my favourite songs of theirs and it creates such imagery. I took inspiration from the lyrics and recreated on canvas how the song makes me feel.
This collection is dedicated to all the lovers out there, separated from their hearts desires. May you feel connected to them again when you gaze upon the moon.
